Firefly Lemonade Cooler

Lemonade
Cooling combo of lemons, mint, & basil for hot days.

Ingredients

4 teaspoons basil seeds (or chia seeds)
 ½ cup water
 4 cups cold water
 2 cups fresh mint leaves
2 to 4 lemons, juiced (approx. ¼ cup)
4 teaspoons light coconut sugar or jaggery
 ½ teaspoon black salt, optional
 ½ teaspoon ground cumin
¼ teaspoon salt or to taste
 Ice, optional

Instructions

1

Mix the basil or chia seeds with the 1/2 cup water. Set aside for the seeds to absorb the water and swell in size, about 15 minutes.

2

Whirl the cold water, mint, lemon juice, sugar or jaggery, cumin, black salt, and regular salt in a high-speed blender until smooth.

3

Strain if desired.

4

Place the prepared seeds in the bottom of a glass. Top with mint lemonade.

5

Add ice, if desired. Enjoy on a hot summer day to cool down.

Note:
According to Medical News Today, the potential benefits of basil seeds include being high in fiber, a good source of minerals, and rich in plant-based omega-3 fat. You can buy basil seeds in some natural food stores, Indian grocery stores, and online.
