1 large ripe avocado
1 medium-sized scallion, finely chopped
1 small tomato, finely chopped
Dash of hot pepper sauce or more to taste
¼ teaspoon garlic salt or to taste
1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
Mash avocado well in a bowl. Stir in all remaining ingredients, mixing thoroughly.
Serve as a dip with taco-flavored corn chips or fresh vegetable sticks.
Variation: Use ½ to 1 tablespoon tamari in place of hot pepper sauce and omit garlic salt.
