Guacamole

Guacamole recipe
Our adaptation of Mexico’s most popular and versatile avocado dish can be savored as a dip, in a salad, or as a topping for tacos and tostadas.

Ingredients

 1 large ripe avocado
 1 medium-sized scallion, finely chopped
 1 small tomato, finely chopped
 Dash of hot pepper sauce, or cayenne powder, to taste
 1 to 2 fresh garlic cloves, minced
 1 teaspoon fresh lime or lemon juice
 2 tablespoons chopped fresh jalapeño pepper (optional)
 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
 Salt to taste

Instructions

Mash avocado well in a bowl. Stir in all remaining ingredients, mixing thoroughly.

Serve as a dip with taco-flavored corn chips or fresh vegetable sticks.
