Teriyaki Sauce

Terayaki-Sauce--
Savory, sweet, salty, and delicious. This sauce can be poured over steamed vegetables, used as a stir-fry sauce, or to coat tofu for a simple protein dish.

Ingredients

 1 cup low-sodium gluten-free soy sauce
  cup maple syrup
 ¼ cup molasses
 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
 3 cloves garlic, minced
 2 teaspoons fresh ginger, grated
 1 teaspoon sesame oil, optional
 ¾ cup water
 ¼ cup orange or pineapple juice, optional (or 1/4 cup water)
 3 tablespoons cornstarch
 4 tablespoons water
 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, optional

Instructions

In a medium saucepan, place all of the ingredients except the cornstarch and water. Heat on medium-high until the sauce is simmering.

In a small bowl, whisk the cornstarch and water. Add to the sauce and cook, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.

Remove from heat and serve immediately or refrigerate until you are ready to use.
